It's not about the destination

It’s Not about The Destination…

This use to be my Motto years ago… I never ever thought about what I wanted to achieve,  and who I wanted to be in life. The only thing that I wanted to do was work and have fun. When I say have fun I mean to enjoy life, family, and friends, travel, read books and laugh, yes, laugh a lot!

I never thought about being successful, reaching the seven-figure income that now we hear the Gurus talk so much about. It’s all about “I’ll help you to reach the seven-figure income” nos a days is all about being successful and success is measured by having a massive house, a massive boat, a massive closet full of luxury, lots of everything.

Now don’t take me wrong who wouldn’t like that? who wouldn’t like to have all these beautiful things that we see on Youtube, it’s all about unboxing videos where you see this very well dressed and confident ladies opening this fantastic boxes and take out this very expensive bags! I personally love looking at this videos I like seeing the happiness and the joy in the eyes of this ladies when they hold the item in their hands, it’s probably the same face I make when I’m about to eat my favourite food… I love seeing the joy in the eyes of people and of course, I like looking at the bags and shoes.

Even though in the past I was never worried about visualizing the life I wanted by thinking about things I wanted to buy I found myself in these months where I’m struggling to beat anxiety with depression to read various self-help books, in some of the books they say create a vision board with the things you want to achieve in life, with the things you wanna have and look at it every day and focus on achieving them, the universe will conspire on your favour and re-adjust to make you have these items… Going through this hard time of my life in a crazy self-beating therapy I somehow tricked my old brain by lying to myself and I started to think that I’m not successful because I don’t have a Villa I started to measure the happiness of my life by the items I possess. So I started to look at houses I want to have, cars I want to drive, fancy places I want to visit, luxury clothes I want to wear and yesterday I decided that I was gonna print the pictures and create the vision board…

Bad Decision!

The moment I started to look at those things and thinking about putting them on the board the old manager in me came back with all its strength and power and started to yell at me!!!  “Hey, did you say board? Oh so things on the board mean problems to solve, so let’s start a plan, let’s start to work on procedures to make all this happen! Let’s analyze, calculate and put a project in place! Let’s think about productivity projects that will improve the financial health of this company (wait you are not in a company, whatever you are working from home) common no time to lose let’s do it, by the way, what’s the spending target and what is the cash flow?”

I felt the anxiety rushing and the need to take notes! Then I thought Gosh what am I doing to myself?! Do I really need all this pressure in life to be happy? Do I really need a 7 figure income to be happy? Do I really need the Villa? I know that if I work hard, focus and plan is possible, when you work hard there is no limit to what you can achieve. But the question is: Do I want to live my life with the destination on a board pressuring me all the time to arrive quick? Do I want to have these items on the board reminding me or better making me believe that my happiness depends on them? HECK NO!

Items are just items, they are just things… Which I’ll never love. My bags they are in the wardrobe forgotten I don’t think about them… Why do I want a boat that will limit my vacations? my brain would oblige me to use it! Why do I want a massive house to feel successful? am I gonna use all the bloody rooms every day? I looked at my house and remembered that I didn’t go to the living room the last 24 hours so if I would have a massive house it means I wouldn’t use all the rooms all the time so what’s the point? Do I really need to create a board with things that I don’t need as they say on the books? No, I don’t!

What I need is to live a happy life with no stress and pressure. What I need is to feel interior peace. I know what I’m capable of speaking about career and money. I know that anyone is capable of making money and tons of money. What I know is that if I’ll really want anything material I know how to make it happen. But, what I decided to do is to enjoy the journey of not pressuring myself with this vision board, what I decided to do is to go back to the old values that made me so happy.

Money, wealth is the consequences of your work it’s not a measurement system of your personal success!

Success cannot be measured by the amount of money/things a person have, cause anybody can make money but not everybody becomes successful…

I’ll enjoy the journey having the certainty that the destination is amazing and I’ll let life surprise with its wonderful destination.

Motivation - 2 - Me on Focus

Motivation Monday #2

This morning I left you with an exercise, I did this exercise myself these days and I can tell you that it was very complicated…

It’s very complicated to let our daily life aside and think just about what we want, sometimes I wish I was one of those people that live their lives having themselves, their needs and their dreams as first thing… Some people call them Selfish… Egoist but, is it really selfish to put ourselves first? Don’t know, what do you think?

A few years ago I read somewhere that in order to make somebody happy you have to make yourself happy in the first place, which makes a lot of sense to me but, I was raised differently. I was raised hearing that in order to be happy you have to make people around you happy because when they will be happy in automatic will make you happy.

Looks like today’s post is heading to a totally different subject…

But, (can we start a phrase with but?) how can we talk about motivation and not talk about happiness?

Certainly, you cannot feel motivated if you are not happy or if you are not doing what makes you happy… right?

Well, this what I’m thinking about the last months… Am I happy? When and how and why have I decided to start this career? What was I passionate about? what were my dreams…?

While I was thinking and focusing (you know brainstorming…) I found myself stopping and in automatic going to the financial side, reality if you like, and stopping myself by thinking “yeah, of course, go ahead and do that… who is gonna pay the bills?”

Now, this is totally wrong and I thank my inner me for making me stop and erase immediately these counterproductive thoughts!

I formulated the thought that No, I won’t be able to think only about what I want not taking into account my family but, I can take both things forward… How? Focusing and working hard! yes because Motivation cannot be just a state of mind!

You need to motivate yourself and take action.

You are not doing your dream job? You cannot quit your job because you need to make both hands meet? No problem! Go on and motivate yourself by saying to yourself every morning that thanking your job you are every second closer to achieve your dreams and, work hard on your dream job during free time.

Thank your job every morning and every day when you are leaving to go home.

Motivate yourself by saying thanking this job I’m able to focus on my dreams… And trust me, you will soon love it… your dream? The second job that you are doing and working so hard on to achieve your dreams? Well, this one will start flourish unconditionally… Why? Because you will be filled with positivity every single moment of your day.

You will start succeeding, immediately.

You will feel the difference right the next day.

You don’t need to take risky steps… You just need to change your vision of things and be grateful …

The magic happens when we unity:

Stability – so you don’t add stress to your life

Focus – so you have an initial thought of what you want, this might change along the way so don’t be strict with yourself. It’s ok to change your mind along the way…

Thankful – always thankful for everything even for what you don’t like, this brings positivity.

Dream – It warms your heart and makes things happen.

Happy – be always happy about everything, when you feel a little low revive yourself by dancing or doing whatever makes you laugh 🙂 I dance Brazilian songs like there is no tomorrow (hehehehehe shouldn’t have said that)

I wish you all to be happy, I wish this post brought you inspiration to smile, breath and start tomorrow morning screaming your happiness to our beautiful world.

Motivation Monday

Great Monday Everybody.

Today is our appointment to talk about Motivation… I thought a lot about this post because I want it to be very special, first of all, because Motivation is a special topic and second of all because today I’m bringing the example of a Victorious Person which could sell Motivation at Tesco’s… Did I make my point? Besides being a positive and as I already said, Victorious person, he also is the sweetest and most polite Vlogger of all!!!

OMG, the first time I saw his video I was like does He really exist? His kindness blows out the screen, the most truthful eyes, at some point his transparency broke my heart, especially when He talked about his Grandmother that unfortunately, he lost last year.

You surely are asking yourself: Ok, great but what does it have to do with our Motivation Monday appointment…? Well, my dear friends (I got this from him) it has everything to do with Motivation… He is the proof that if you Believe in yourself, Work Hard, Motivate yourself no matter what you went through and you don’t lose your time crying over yourself you will make it!

  1. He was raised in a poor family living in a trailer in rural Pennsylvania. But full of love and you can totally feel it because he irradiates love from each pore. Today he is a successful person that has a beautiful house with a lot of cool things that makes him even happier.
  2. He was bullied at school for being gay and overweight. He feels no hate, no bad feelings at all when he speaks about it, instead, he feels sorry for those kids that bullied him for not knowing better.
  3. He focused and lost loads of weight. Not easy to do but he did it and he speaks about it as of his second biggest achievements. It certainly is!
  4. When he speaks about his first biggest achievement he doesn’t mention the career but he mentioned his relationship with his Husband. Melts my heart so sweet so much Love.
  5. He opened his YouTube Chanel after the loss of his Grandmother, Love, Love and Love in every post. You can see and feel the Love.

His Channel is about Lifestyle, Luxury, Beauty, Planning and Organisation, but is a lot more than that. Christopher maybe doesn’t realise it because he is too humble and does it all with his heart but he gives a lot of Motivation to all of us that watch his videos and most of all he brings peace…

He brings the light at the end of the tunnel to many that right now are struggling, he is the example that you will be happy right now. Just give yourself permission to start.

Abandoning a bad habit – Method that works

Tell me who does not have this type of challenge?

Let me tell you a way that helped me to get rid of some of mine.

I always had a sweet tooth so to say… and that coupled with stress eating is not a good combination. At my work, there is not much of a variety of snacks you can choose from… chocolate bars and chips. So when I felt hungry… I have gone for the chocolates. Not one or two more or less 3 or 4 per day. Fortunately or unfortunately I had no issues with gaining weight but more so what I have noticed is my blood sugar levels must have gone up.

So my logical mind told me, that I have to stop or eat less. A grandiose idea… but how?

Plan A:

Put posters on my monitor… no chocolate… Well worked for a day or two… Then back in the kitchen.


Plan B:

Let’s eat something else instead of chocolate… Like apples. 1 bag of apples and a nice bowl later… I have consumed the full bowl of apples in a day…. and then at least one chocolate bar… Great plan… no result… Except the apples were delicious!

Plan C:

Let’s use something I have learned about a while ago, that you can alter your feelings about anything… not easy but with a bit of practice. Here is how it works in practice:

Take a chocolate bar and ask yourself the question: On a scale of 1 to 10 how much I desire that chocolate bar? In my case, the answer was 6, as it happened to be one which I liked but not that much.
Then ask yourself the question what would you have to think to put your desire to level 9 or 10… The answer was easy all I had to think, that this was the last one in the fridge… Job done… And started to unwrap the little temptation pack.

Then the third question… What would I have to think or do, to make it a 1 or 2, that it would almost be impossible to make me eat that treat? After a bit of thinking, my brain came up with the image with one of my legs amputated as a result of severe diabetes.


That was enough… Chocolate bars = Amputated leg… Not an appealing combination.

Two weeks later, feeling better, blood sugar lower and some more money in my pocket.

Success… Try it out yourself… You can use this technique in a positive way as well to get your brain to make you do something!
